Job Title:                         Quality Technician: Production Support / Receiving Inspection

Reports to:                      VP of Quality

Summary:  Inspect, test, sort, sample, or weigh raw materials or processed, machined, fabricated, or assembled parts or products for defects, wear, and deviations from specifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Receiving Inspection:

  1. Completes necessary incoming inspection on purchased products
  2. Works with Purchasing to initiates reaction plans for non-conforming product supplied by vendors
  3. Maintains necessary records

Product Auditing

  1. Schedules Product Audits based on the production schedule and the product audit frequency matrix.
  2. Completes the Product Audits for 1st shift and for items that are checked at a frequency of 1/day or less.
  3. Tracks the completions of Product audits from all 3 shifts.
  4. Works with shipping to ensure that no product ships prior to the completion of the required audits.
  5. Works with the Shift Supervisors to initiate reaction plans for failed product audits.

Other

  1. Containment/ Sorting of non-conforming product
  2. Communication to provide feedback to the production operators and answer their questions
  3. Maintaining 5S of Quality Hold areas
  4. Complete assigned projects (i.e. data collection, sorts, rework etc.) as needed by CPI
  5. Participate in other Quality Department functions (i.e. APQP, PPAP, Internal Audits, CA/PA systems, Document control) as needed.
  6. All other job-related duties as assigned and directed by supervisor. 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Associates Degree in a Technical field that covers the competencies and duties listed below

Or

  • Minimum of 2 years experience working in a field that develops the competencies and duties listed below

COMPETENCIES:

  • Ability to interpret a basic technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, including drawing, prints etc.
  • Ability to use hand held gauges for dimensional evaluation
  • Ability to use test equipment owned by CPI as needed to complete assigned duties.
  • Basic math ability
  • Reasoning ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Computer skills
  • Clear communications skills – verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently, be self motivated and make decisions

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This job requires the employee to do the following:

 WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job has exposure to the following environmental conditions:

  • Working near moving mechanical parts 1/3 to 2/3 of the time;
  • Working under adverse non-weather conditions (e.g., heat) 1/3 of the time;
  • Working under moderate office and loud manufacturing noise levels.
